Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
Humiq is a Mac app that listens to your meetings and turns them into transcripts and notes. The entire point of Humiq is that your conversations stay yours. We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. There is no account, no sign-up, and no analytics. Humiq is private by construction, not by promise — every claim below is backed by our public, source-linked Data Boundary.
The short version
- Your audio never leaves your Mac — it is never even written to disk.
- Transcripts, notes, and voice profiles are stored only on your Mac. They are never synced to Humiq servers. Humiq operates no servers that receive your content.
- We collect no analytics and perform no tracking. None.
- The only time any content leaves your device is when you turn on optional cloud notes, or press a publish/e-mail button. Even then, only text you can preview is sent — never audio — with names stripped by default.
1. Audio is never stored or transmitted
Your microphone and meeting audio are processed entirely in memory on your Mac, in real time, and then discarded. Humiq has no “save recording” feature because there is no recording to save. No code path in the app writes audio to disk, and no audio is ever sent off your device under any setting.
2. Transcripts and notes stay on your device
Transcription and note-generation run on your Mac using on-device models. Your finished sessions (transcript + notes, never audio), categories, dictionary, and settings are stored as plain files on your Mac, under ~/Library/Application Support/Humiq/. They are never synced or uploaded to any Humiq server. You can read, back up, export, or delete them yourself with Finder at any time.
3. Voice profiles are on-device only
When you name a speaker, Humiq stores their voice as a small set of mathematical fingerprints (numeric embeddings) computed on your Mac. These are one-way: they cannot be reconstructed into audio or speech, and no recording is ever kept. Voice profiles never leave your Mac — not in cloud requests, not in exported settings.
4. Calendar access is read-only and stays on device
If you grant calendar access, Humiq reads your upcoming events so it can prefill a meeting's title, category, and participants on the start screen. Humiq never creates, edits, or deletes calendar events, and your calendar data stays on your Mac. You can deny or revoke this permission in macOS System Settings at any time; Humiq works without it.
5. Optional cloud notes (Claude) — off by default, and under your control
Humiq can optionally send a finished transcript to Anthropic's Claude for higher-quality notes. This is off until you turn it on. When you enable it:
- Only text is sent — the finished transcript and the notes prompt, the same material you can read on screen. Audio is never sent.
- It only happens when you ask for notes (e.g. Summarize / Regenerate). Nothing is sent in the background.
- Names are stripped by default. Before anything is sent, Humiq replaces people's names, company names, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers with neutral placeholders (e.g.
Person-A,Firma-1). The mapping back to the real names stays in memory on your Mac, is never saved and never sent, and is used only to restore the real names in Claude's reply. - A built-in “what's sent” preview shows you the exact outgoing text before you send it.
In this mode, Anthropic is the only third party that receives content, and only the pseudonymized text you approved. Your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's privacy policy. Humiq does not receive, store, or proxy any of this traffic — it goes directly from your Mac to your chosen Claude transport (your Claude subscription, or your own Anthropic API key).
An honest caveat: stripping names is pseudonymization, not anonymization. It reduces exposure but does not eliminate it — a transcript can still contain details that identify people. If that matters for a given meeting, leave cloud notes off; the on-device notes are always available.
6. Publishing and sharing — only when you press the button
Nothing is published automatically. When you choose to e-mail participants or publish notes to a tool like Confluence or Jira, Humiq moves only the one artifact you are acting on, to your own accounts, using credentials stored on your Mac. E-mail opens a draft in your own mail app for you to review and send; Humiq sends nothing on your behalf.
7. No analytics, no tracking, no advertising
Humiq collects no usage analytics, contains no third-party trackers or advertising SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites. This is reflected in the app's App Store privacy manifest, which declares no data collected and no tracking. The app connects to the network only to download its on-device models once (software coming in — none of your content goes out), and, if you enable cloud notes, to your chosen Claude transport.
8. Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your Mac, you control retention entirely. Delete a session in the app, or remove the files under ~/Library/Application Support/Humiq/, and it is gone. Uninstalling Humiq and deleting that folder removes all of your Humiq data. We hold nothing to delete on our side, because we never had it.
9. Children
Humiq is a professional productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone — including children — because we do not collect personal data at all.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how Humiq handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app's release notes.
